This week for reading we read the book Coyote and Turtle.We did a pic collage to describe Coyote
and Turtle.First we found words from the text to describe them then we inferenced and thought of words that would probably describe them.

Who am I?

   I am as dark as the night. I can camoflage in a  dark room with my dark ink clothes. I like to be horrid to people no one really likes me. They absolutely hate me. The only person that likes me is my best furry friend. I live in the syclopse. I love to play tricks on little children. I where a pointy hat on my head. I love to gobble up delicious children and put them in big cooking pots.

Maui and the food battle

Maui and the food battle

Millions of years ago in the time when maori lived in marae there was a man called Maui,he had lots of brothers but he was the youngest.Maui lived in a maori village next to the beach.He was very powerful,strong,smart,brave and  he was a fearsome warrior.You could hear his tummy grumbling loudly and his brothers were grumbling too. They were standing up exhausted holding empty fishing nets.”Where have all the fish gone” Maui said.

While Maui was talking to his brothers in the deepest,darkest part of the sea there was a very hungry eel. The tuna had almost eaten all the fish in the sea.There were only a few remaining and she was gobbling them up. There were of course a lot more fish but they had swam away to save their lives and Maui and his brothers could not even think of going in there waka deeper in the sea to catch the fish that had swam away.They thought  the eel would break their waka.The villagers thought they were defeated. They knew they had nothing to do but Maui was not going to give up that easily.After a lot of fighting Maui had given up too, there was no way  he would be able to ever get any food.

Maui had almost given up! He needed a way to feed him and his hupu. But being a trickster was very helpful at times! Especially at times like this and in a flash he thought  of a very sneaky plan! The plan was going to work properly there was just one problem! There were no fish in the sea so for two days  Maui searched for fish.Maui  needed them to distract the eel while he was going to kill him.Just as he was about to give fight the eel without a plan beacuse there were no fish but while he was walking something  stuck to his feet.It was a fish! Maui’s plan was going to work perfectly.After waiting for a day for the eel to come it finally came.He threw the fish with all his might while the eel was feasting on the fish Maui and his hapu shot the eel and the eel died. The whole town celebrated.The eel lasted for a year. Maui was a hero.
