water scarcity poem

Water scarcity poem

Drip,drip,drip……  then gone.
The water has vanished,
the people will soon be banished.
This special liquid of ours
is disappearing each hour.
We can't afford to waste a drop,
or the human race will stop.

What are we doing? Say it isn't true?
There are 7.7 billion people in the world, including you!
Disappearing at an alarming rate,
it has lead us to our fate.
Deforestation, human greed, overuse and pollution.
Overpopulation, rubbish, technology and climate change.
Greed and hunger is what people hold in their bones,
The more water we waste, the more people will groan.
Splash, pour, dribble, drip, drop……… stop!
So we better start saving or
we will sink… be gone…. extinct!

So what can we do? How can we change?
How can we save the freshwater we have?
Not enough to shower, not enough to mop,
not enough to drink , not  enough to grow a crop.
You can scooter and bike down your street
All you need to do is use your feet.
Try take 10 minutes showers or baths,
and if someone tells you to stay, DON’T follow their paths.
Only wash your hands for 15 or 30 seconds,
That is what you should do, I reckon..
If your clothes are dirty, no need to give a clean,
only if your clothes are covered with mud and green.
So listen folks, this is what you do,
And by the way this is all very true.

Water scarcity, it’s a real thing.
Don’t close your eyes, ears, heart and mind,
be kind to our planet and it will sing.
Sing like the birds up in the trees,
sing like a choir girl who stands up for what she believes.
A healthy planet means more water
For us in the future.
