The Aurelia Aurita also known as the moon jellyfish is the most well known jellyfish in Rhode island. It is see through like a ghost. It looks like a solid piece of jelly. Its sting feels like a sharp, burning pain. It feels like you've been stung by a bee. Moon jellyfish are the shape of an umbrella. They are as quiet as a mouse and can drift through the water surprising swimming people at the beach. Their tentacles gently sway back and forth to help them float peacefully in the salty ocean. Moon jellyfish are peaceful creatures unless they feel threatened. They strike, giving no mercy to their victims.
